Notice of Resignation: Starting Point

The starting point of the notice is the date from which its duration is counted. In a Luxembourg CDI outside the probationary period, a notification before the fifteenth starts the notice on the fifteenth of the month; from the fifteenth, it begins on the first of the following month.

Therefore, calculate the duration and the start separately. A notification delayed by one day can shift the end date by several weeks. Keep proof of notification and inform the future employer of a verified date. The rules of the probationary period are different and should not be mixed with this schedule.

Thus, for a one-month notice, a notification on the 14th normally starts the period from the 15th; a notification on the 15th postpones it to the first day of the following month. This example targets the CDI outside the probationary period and assumes a validly established notification.
