Paid Annual Leave
Paid annual leave allows the employee to be absent to rest while retaining their remuneration according to applicable rules. In Luxembourg, the legal reference duration is twenty-six working days per year, with adaptations depending on the situation and possibly more favorable provisions.
Distinguish the acquired right, the request for dates, and the balance displayed by the employer. For part-time hours or an incomplete year, the calculation must be adapted. Upon leaving the company, check the treatment of the remaining balance without assuming that leave can be taken unilaterally.
A leave counter contains several pieces of information: days acquired, those already taken, and those only authorized for a future date. Bringing them together avoids treating as available a day already committed or confusing a right to rest with an end-of-contract payment.
