Settlement
A settlement is an agreement intended to end a dispute or prevent litigation, with reciprocal concessions. The Civil Code provides that it be written.
Before signing, identify the settled claims, sums due independently of the agreement, and the rights each party waives. Its scope depends on the concerned dispute and its drafting. It differs from a mutual termination of a contract and a receipt for full and final settlement.
