Bailiff / Judicial Officer

The bailiff is a ministerial officer responsible notably for serving documents and executing enforceable decisions and titles. Their intervention gives procedural significance to acts that should not be assimilated to ordinary correspondence.

When a document is served to you, keep all its pages and note the circumstances of receipt. Identify what is requested and any deadlines. When requesting execution, transmit the complete title and an updated account: a poorly presented claim amount can complicate the steps.

A bailiff's act can have different purposes: summoning to court, bringing a judgment to knowledge, or pursuing its execution. Start by identifying this function. The response to prepare depends on the act, not merely on the fact that a bailiff intervenes.
