Social Security & Cross-Border Rights
The provisional contributions of the self-employed are calculated before their definitive professional income is known. In Luxembourg, the CCSS initially uses an estimate or a reference base, then the latest available income.
An updated estimate can be communicated when the activity evolves. The income transmitted by the tax administration then leads to the final calculation. A regular deduction does not guarantee the absence of adjustment.
To understand a variation, compare the account statement with the declared income and the details of the adjustment. Adapting the provisional base allows aligning payments with the actual economic situation.
